Waco Water Activities

While Central Texas has fairly desirable weather throughout most of the year, summers can be hot and humid. The good news is there are many fun ways to cool off, especially around Waco and Belton. Water recreation, swimming pools, and water parks all make Central Texas summers highly enjoyable. If you live in the area, are planning a visit or are planning to move here this summer, our real estate agents have got you covered with some fun ways to cool off this summer:

  • Pura Vida Paddle - Brazos Park East, Waco, TX 76702
    One of the most unique ways to experience Waco is from the water, and you can do so with a kayak or paddleboard rental from Pura Vida Paddle. Prices range from $20 for a 1-hour rental to $65 for a full day. Double kayaks, classes, and tours are also available. The Pura Vida Paddle staff will assist you on and off the water and provide helpful tips so you can enjoy your experience to the fullest.   • Waco Paddle Company - 200 S University Parks Dr, Waco, TX 76701
    Another excellent water recreation shop located downtown is Waco Paddle Company. If you want to explore the beautiful city sights from the mighty Brazos River, stop in to rent paddleboards, kayaks, and canoes and spend the day soaking up the sun and the views. Paddle under the newly renovated Waco Historic Suspension Bridge or through the picturesque bluffs of Cameron Park. You can even reach McLane Stadium and Baylor University on one of their watercrafts. Single kayak rentals start at $20 for one hour or $65 for the day. Prices vary per watercraft, and you can even get a frequent renter card for the season!     Do you love the thrill of a high-speed water slide? Or is floating in a lazy river more your speed? Either way, you can find both at Waco Surf. In addition to numerous slides and attractions, there is also a private beach and a bar. Did you ever dream that you could learn to surf in Central Texas? Well, now you can! They offer beginner lessons, private lessons, intermediate and pro surf lessons. You can even make it a vacation (or staycation), they have a hotel, cabins, RV hookups, and surf houses on site! There's something for the whole family here, whether you're looking for the adrenaline rush of the cable park, a relaxing day by the beach or lazy river, or you want to up your surf game, Waco Surf will not disappoint!   • Mountainview Park - 2325 Mountainview Dr, Waco, TX 76710
    Mountainview Park, which is one of Waco's best city parks, is a great place to take the kids to cool off on a hot summer day. In addition to its well-maintained walking trails and playgrounds, the park has fun and refreshing splash pads and several shady areas to walk your dog.   • Kendrick Park - 4011 Bagby Ave, Waco, TX 76711
    Another awesome Waco city park with a huge splash pad is Kendrick Park. With many amenities for kids, plus an outdoor fitness station, basketball courts, and picnic tables, it's easy to spend an entire summer day at this park. There are also plenty of trails for biking or dog walking.

  • Lions Junction Family Water Park - 5000 S 5th St, Temple, TX 76502
    Tons of summer fun can be found at Lions Junction Family Water Park. This Central Texas theme park has a lazy river, splash pads, huge pools, concession stands, and three-story tall water slides. With ticket prices only $5 to $8, it's a great value!

  • Harris Community Splash Pad -  310 N Alexander St, Belton, TX 76513
    One of Central Texas's largest splash pads is in Belton. The Harris Community Splash Pad is tons of fun for kids. With several pavilions, playgrounds, and plenty of shade, you can easily plan a fun family picnic in this park. Hours of Operation are Tuesday -  Sunday 10 am-8 pm and Monday 1 pm-8 pm.

  • Summer Fun Water Park - 1410 Waco Rd, Belton, TX 76513
    Lazy rivers, swimming pools, and a whopping 900 ft slide are some of the highlights of this 7-acre water park in Belton. Tickets are $18 for those 48" or taller and $15 for those under 48" at Summer Fun Water Park. Cooler pass purchases are also available.

  • Camp Fimfo - 1000 Chickadee Lane, Waco, TX 76708
    "Resort-style pool" doesn't quite cover what Camp Fimfo Waco offers. An interactive water playground with two water slides, two kiddie slides and 'hydrostorm' bucket are sure to delight the young and young at heart. Cool off in the resort-style swimming pool, and even enjoy a beverage at the swim-up bar. A spa tub is also available if you'd like to heat things up. Enjoy even more fun by the water by renting Kayaks or paddleboards to explore the bosque river with access right from the campgrounds. Day passes are available, or you can even make it a vacation -or staycation- by booking your stay in one of their 3 different models of cabins, reserving a spot for your RV, or your own tent campsite! Other amenities include: mini-golf, a giant jumping pillow, basketball courts, a wiffleball field, a playground where you can climb, slide, swing, and zip! Bring your furry friend along to the dog park, and enjoy yard games – like cornhole, horseshow, etc. And if you're in on the craze, there's even a pickleball court!
